The Colgate Raiders (12-6-4) face off against the Harvard Crimson (5-8-2) and the Dartmouth Big Green (3-13-1) on the road this weekend. The Raiders are coming off a big weekend in which they grabbed three league points winning against Quinnipiac and tying Princeton.
On Friday, they first take on the Crimson who have been very unlucky as far as finding wins. They have not been getting wins on the road as their road record shows (1-5-2) but they have been a bit more successful at home (4-3). Defensively this is a solid team as 12 of their games have been decided by two goals or less. They have been putting up the shots on goal with 26.5 shots a game, it just seems they have not been translating into goals. This matchup against Colgate will certainly go down to the last second.
Saturday’s against the Big Green will be very different from Harvard, as they are having no luck at all. Dartmouth right now has a five game losing streak and they are next to last in the ECAC conference. With this in mind, they have at times competed well with teams to make it challenging for opponents to get on the scoreboard. It will be interesting to see what they plan to do against Colgate.
For Colgate, they need to make sure they fight for the top four spots in the ECAC and try to catch up with Princeton. Every league point they get solidifies a home ice advantage for the ECAC quarterfinals. If their second and third lines keep producing, Colgate will come away with some points this weekend. Go Gate!
