The Buffalo Bills (3-7) have a bye week this week which means there is not a whole lot going on. The Bills are deep into the season and will not be making any moves. Yep, just the same old stuff. Nothing to talk about really.
Oh wait…..PETERMAN IS GONE!!! He was released on Monday after the awesome showing of quarterback Matt Barkley in the New York Jets game. He leaves the Bills with seven interceptions on the year and two touchdowns.
With this said, I think he could have been a good backup quarterback in the NFL. I solely put the blame on Coach McDermott for pretty much ruining Peterman. I hope Nate Peterman does well in life and maybe finds his way back to an NFL team that will treat him the right way. His release from the team was good for all parties involved and that normally does not happen in the business of the NFL.
Speaking of business, Terrelle Pryor Sr. was released by the Bills and in a corresponding move they picked up Deonte Thompson. It was reported that Pryor was not making that much of an impact the past two games. You can also notice Brian Daboll’s play calling was orchestrated for fast slot receivers. At least for right now, the Bills have to be creative into making plays for small, fast receivers but Daboll has figured out exactly how to make it work.
It really comes down to quarterback play. Barkley may have found a rhythm in the Meadowlands but McDermott is doing the right thing and letting Josh Allen start, probably for the rest of the season. This team is not built for the playoffs. Not yet. The offense needs to get better and the only way to do that is to develop a young quarterback. Now, should the Bills have had a couple of veterans helping out in the very beginning, absolutely. They should’ve had at least one guy who could teach Allen and even Peterman how to play in the NFL. Instead, the Bills threw them to the wolves. We saw what that did to Peterman, hopefully the same does not happen to Josh Allen.
Flipping to the other side of the field, my goodness. We have the number one ranked defense in the NFL. We either lose by a million or win by a million but this defense will keep it close until the last minute of every game. It is a shame that the impotency of the offense overshadows this young defense. In the next two years, this defense will be a lockdown defense. Matt Milano, TreDavious White, Tremaine Edmunds, Micah Hyde, Jordan Poyer will be come apart of a playoff defense and I can’t wait.
I also can’t wait for the Bills to play again. Not to worry Bills Mafia. we will see our team again very soon, at New Era Field no less. The Buffalo Bills will face off against the Jacksonville Jaguars at home in a Wild Card rematch. Let’s see if Jalen Ramsey can pick off a Josh Allen fastball. My money is on the “trash” quarterback.
