The Colgate Raiders (6-4) are facing off against the Robert Morris Colonials (6-5-1) in Pennsylvania this weekend. The Colonials are currently 4-1-1 in the CHA conference and have hung tough against the top teams in the nation. They split games against St Lawerence and were pretty even with Clarkson and so when high profile teams come they are ready to play.
Some players to watch out for on the Colonials, Jaycee Gebhard is the leading goal scorer on this team with eight goals and is a fairly balanced player. You also have Lexi Templeman who is an excellent goal distributor as she leads the team with eight assists. We also have very similar players in Amber Rennie and Kirsten Welsh who are balanced players with six team points each. Finally, goalie Lauren Bailey has 1.91 goal allowed in 11 starts with only one loss and one tie.
This will be a tough battle this weekend. The Raiders need to out shoot the Colonials in order to win this game. They also need some more contributions from their younger players in order to gain a boost on offense. Lastly, they will need the veteran leadership of Julia Vandyk between the pipes to shut down the competition.
This weekend, Colgate needs a sweep to stay in top ten. They can no longer afford splits to non-ranked teams. If they do split, or even worse lose back to back, their journey to another Frozen Four will be that much harder to get to.
