After shutting out both Dartmouth and Harvard at home last week, the Colgate Raiders (5-3) face off against the Brown University Bears (0-2) and the Yale University Bulldogs (0-2). Both teams lost to Quinnipiac and Princeton last week. The Bears allowed a weekend total of 11 goals in their games and the Bulldogs allowed six in theirs. With that in mind, we should see a repeat of last weekend as Raiders should roll against one team and it will be a tough matchup with the other.
Looking at the players currently, three players are tied with eight points contributors to the offensive side of the puck. Shae Labbe and Coralie Larose are even with four goals and four assists on the season. Malia Schneider picked up her eight points by scoring two goals and assisting on six of them. The leading goal scorer on this team is Jessie Eldridge with five goals on the season which includes two game winners. Overall the team is solid offensively and picked up steam last weekend and has no plans of slowing down anytime soon.
Between the pipes, Liz Auby was solid in her two starts in net and Julia Vandyk denied Harvard of a goal in her last start which was a confidence booster for the rest of the season. I would hate to be the team who has to face either of these two in goal.
This weekend should be and needs to be a sweep in order for Colgate to keep their top ten spot in the national polls. If they do win back to back, not much will change on the national scale but four points in the ECAC conference is crucial especially when battling for a spot in the playoffs. This weekend should be business as usual.
Predictions: Colgate-4 Brown-0, Colgate-3 Yale-1
